Acquire Practical Data Analytic Skills
Students in this program will acquire a set of practical data analytic skills. Additionally, students will develop the necessary skills to extract, analyze, organize and present data in a manner that is useful for organizational decision making. The program will require students to develop a high level of quantitative and technological skills. It utilizes the courses from the undergraduate business core, existing courses from the School of Business, and specialized courses in the area of Data Analytics.

Learning Outcomes
- Effectively evaluate and frame the business problem and acquire knowledge and skills of statistical tools available to analyze business problems such as the Business Intelligence Concepts of Online Analytical Processing and Data Mining.
- Utilize critical thinking strategies to evaluate problems, and solutions and make recommendations based on client needs utilizing appropriate analytical tools.
- Demonstrate effective information literacy and communication with valid and reliable research as it relates to the field of Data Analytics.
- Apply the ethical standards as required by professionals in the Data Analytics field.
Our UB Student Entrepreneur Center provides tremendous support to students with a business idea. Sources from within UB, such as graphic design and engineering students, and those outside UB, including professional architects and attorneys, collaborate to bring the idea to market.

Elena Cahill, JD
Elena Cahill earned her bachelor’s and law degrees from University of Bridgeport. Prior to joining the University as a member of the full-time faculty, Cahill was an adjunct business professor and partner in a commercial law practice. A serial entrepreneur, she has founded several companies in the energy sector and beyond. Cahill served as director of the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business and launched UB’s Student Entrepreneur Center in 2014, where students can bring their concepts to market. She held a pivotal role in the founding of UB’s Bauer Hall Innovation Center in 2018, which fosters innovation and assists in the creation and growth of businesses founded by students and others in the community. In addition to her current role as director of the Innovation Center, she was recently appointed Vice President of Innovation, Strategy and Advancement.
Dr. James K. Page
Dr. Page is an inspirational leader who has a keen passion for the enhancement of student engagement, growth, learning and development. He believes in helping to shape the academic growth and development of students from diverse backgrounds. He takes pride in being committed to the university’s mission.
Dr. Page holds an Executive Leadership and Strategic Management Certificate from Cornell University, an Education Doctorate from Wilmington University, and an MBA from Sacred Heart University. He has over 18 years of accounting and finance experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sector.
Michael Lohle, PhD, PMP
A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Dr. Lohle spent twenty-six years in the financial services, insurance, information technology services, pharmaceutical and consumer product industries. He is experienced with all aspects of information technology and his specialty is delivering large business intelligence and analytics solutions for major corporations. Dr. Lohle's research interests include project and program management, business intelligence and analytics, and the application of qualitative research methods in business settings.
