Program Overview

As a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Bridgeport, you will develop a broad and versatile skill set readily applicable in a multitude of fields. UB’s curriculum will give you a solid foundation in engineering fundamentals including computer-aided design and other engineering tools, product development, manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, laboratory exploration, and data analysis. Enhanced lab and project experience will also provide you with the knowledge necessary to pursue your career goals. You will emerge from the program thoroughly prepared to either pursue a graduate degree or begin a career in aerospace, automotive, biomedical, defense, robotics, or telecommunications.


JUNLING (JOYCE) HU, PH.D.
CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Dr. Hu is the Director of the Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Laboratory at UB and has also established a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory which enables research on reverse engineering and engineering analysis. Her research has been focused on solving problems that involve transport of heat, mass and momentum, and thermal stresses in a wide range of applications. Her work on multiphysics modeling and simulation of gas metal arc welding process and laser welding process has been published in prestigious journals and conferences. She is proud to give students the chance to work in cutting-edge areas of engineering.
