Learning From Experience
Fieldwork
To prepare for student teaching that your program might require, you’ll work in the field and submit a portfolio about your experience. You’ll have the choice of working in an area school for a year, or in a school of your choice for 75 hours as an observer, teaching assistant or instructor.
Tuition-paid Internship
Our tuition-paid internship program is the first of its kind in the nation. You’ll get first-hand insight into working in one of more than 60 school districts in Connecticut and New York while the district pays a substantial part of your tuition. You’ll attend classes in the evening and intern during the day.
Expert Faculty
Our faculty members are experienced educators and researchers with deep knowledge of the demands and opportunities facing today’s teachers and leaders. They’ll impart practical advice and give you a strong foundation on which to build your career.
The Soares Institute
The Soares Institute of Neuroscience and Education (SINE) is a digital and print resource center housed within the School of Education. It features original research instruments, open-access journals and publications, thousands of searchable databases and access to research studies in the field of neuroscience. SINE is involved in innovative research that will enable researchers and educators to map physically the brain’s neural activities. The Institute provides a spiral curriculum building from the basics of neuroscience in process, content, and interconnection of learning.
Financing Your Education
Financial means shouldn’t be a barrier to becoming an exceptional educator. That’s why the University of Bridgeport offers a variety of academic and need-based financial aid opportunities, including scholarships.
