Program Overview

Opportunities in computer engineering increase as the influence of rapidly-changing and emerging technologies on daily life grows. The curriculum bridges electrical engineering and computer science, bringing the essentials from the two disciplines together into a specialized branch of study. You will develop a thorough understanding of engineering, mathematics, digital, and analog electronics, and control systems, while gaining proficiency in computer languages, computing theory, and computer architecture. Careers available to you upon graduation include software developer, network engineer, telecommunications specialist, and web administrator.

Dr. Mahmood embodies UB’s spirit of innovation and collaborative research. He works with students to improve technology and make breakthroughs in growing fields such as computer architecture, biometrics, and GPS applications. Recently, he and fellow faculty started FaceChecks™, an initiative launched through UB’s CTech IncUBator. The project allows him to apply more than 10 years of facial recognition research to cutting-edge software development.
