About the Program
The B.S. in Criminal Justice is an online-accelerated program that provides the preparation needed for careers related to criminal justice, crime prevention, and law enforcement in an increasingly global society. As a student in the program, you will also explore the emergence and implications of human security as a dimension in criminal justice.
Courses are offered in a 7-week accelerated format. A total of 120 credits are required for graduation. UB holds NGO status with the UN Department of Global Communications and is part of the UN Academic Impact Initiative.

William Lay, Esq.
Prof. William D. Lay did his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) where he majored in Chemistry. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar throughout his years of study and was Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review.
Stephane Kirven, J.D.
Professor Stephane J. Kirven completed her undergraduate studies at Tufts University where she majored in Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center where she was an Equal Justice Fellow and worked with the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN).
Dr. Claude Perrottet, Ph.D.
Dr. Perrottet is currently teaching courses at UB’s School of Public and International Affairs and the School of Professional Studies. He previously served as faculty instructor for UB’s Global Learning Initiatives (GLI) where he was responsible for training UB faculty in the art of teaching online and blended (hybrid) courses.
